PapaGama Ascension League: Season 2

Come join the second round of PapaGama Ascension tournament!  This season we will be featuring the Return of the Fallen deck.  It should provide for some interesting twists in gameplay with a smaller deck and the introduction of FATE cards that can change strategy and events suddenly.

 

 

The Rules (subject to change):

1.  Players will compete in the group stage consisting of round robin play.  Each played will compete against each opponent twice.

2.  Games shall be played with a maximum time limit and must be completed in a single session.

3.  The official deck of competition will be Return of the Fallen ONLY.  The original Chronicle of the Godslayer cannot be added nor substituted for this tournament.  There will be a one-match exception to this rule for the four-player game during which the combined deck will be used.

4.  Group play will be completed after each player successfully completed and posted the results of his total matches.

5.  NEW RULE:  Following the round robin stage, the top four players will compete in a single four-person match.  The placings from the 4-person match will determine bonus points for each elimination stage that follows.  The first place finisher will receive +3, second will receive +2, third will receive +1.  

6.  The elimination stage follows with semi-final pairings to be decided based on seeding as a result of the group stage.  In other words, the player with the best W-L record shall be seeded number 1 and will face the player with the fourth best W-L record or No. 4 seed.  In cases of a tie, FATE shall decide seeding via coin flip.

7.  The semi-finals will be a two-game, aggregate Honor match.  Each match shall conform to the rules set forth previously. Winners shall be determined by the player with the highest Honor total from both matches, regardless of win/loss record, PLUS THE BONUS POINTS, in any, from the four-person match.

8.  The winners of the semi-finals will then compete in a single game match for title of PapaGama Godslayer.  The losers of the semi-finals will compete in a single game match for title of PapaGama Champion of the Fallen.

Hoping to get more PapaGama's playing in this second go around.  We had a really great time with it and the games are fast-paced and unpredictable.  I'm not sure what the cost is, apparently available for play on both iPad (recommended) and iPhone.  It has been THE go to game for the iPad for me.  Definitely worth every penny of the download.  Post a message if you're interested and then I will start listing folks.  We'll say the deadline to sign up is the end of the week.

 

And might I suggest we make this the March PapaGama challenge?  Winner gets an App Store credit?  Heck, I'd even agree to an entry fee if people wanted to do that too.

Was noticing... I think because of the fewer cards, we can't play 4-person Return of the Fallen only.  We can do Chronicle or both or none.  Preferences?

I'd have to play it on my Iphone, and I don't think that would be a great experience.  I'll have to wait until (maybe) I can pick up and Ipad3.

I think the standings should be right, Soup and Moot finishing their matches against each other.  I had one with Soup and Moot.  The +/- is off for Soup and Moot.

Pez and I put a lot of points on the board... ended up being a wash.  I think he's got the upload from his win.  95-91, 79-83 I think were the totals.  I wasn't sure of the score or the winner of the Pez-Moot match.

I think it's updated though I changed Moot's without knowing for sure what his +/- total was.  I thought it was +22 but then he lost by 26 to Pez so I think that should be right.

There is that card that allows you to take a mystic and put it in your pile.  Whats it called?  Have you ever hit none on accident like I have?  I've done that now twice.  The third time, last night, I was playing with a stylus and was dragging the card down.  But for some reason stopped at none...Boo

There's the sensei enlightened hero that allows you to banish and replace or the Stone Circle lifebound construct that allows you to place a mystic on top of your deck when it appears in the center row.  I've been careless playing making moves that I didn't want or playing cards out of order... wanting to banish a militia and accidentally playing it before getting a chance to dump.

Wasn't sure about the last Pez vs. Moot match.  A couple of interesting things... right now, we're Moot win away from all going 3-3.  Even more interesting, Soup played three matches to an overall draw, won one, lost one, tied one... completely even +/-.

 

Not sure whether Moot won or lost but if he were the number 4 seed, we would have the lowest seed getting an additional 3 bonus points... could be especially big if he goes to the finals!

 

Great time last night.  I did download Dominion the other day.  Wasn't sure how much it was.  Haven't played yet.  Looks like the production value is much, much lower than Ascension.  Supposed to be good though.
